Daily Calorie intake
I am having trouble reaching my calorie intake.
I am eating plenty of food and do not feel hungry but I am consistently below the daily calorie intake by about 100 points - some days I come within 10 -12 below the intake but these are days when I eat a meal high in Fat - like Fast food.
Is this something I should be overly concerned with or should I be OK?
My Daly Calorie goal is 1612 and my intake has been from 1028 to 1677

Re: Daily Calorie intake
Hey Kim.... You ask a good question... First and foremost.. You should never eat below a level of 1200 calories at anytime... Your body will go into starvation mode and that can slow your metabolic rate down to the point, where if your goal is to lose weight.. You wont... Additionally it is not healthy, because your body needs a certain amount of energy everyday to survive....

Re: Daily Calorie intake
Thank you Rob.
Another question - I know the calorie count is important but how is that impacted on a high fat day.
The days when I get closest to the 1610 limit I have found that it include some very high fat meals. I know I do not feel as well or have as much energy but will it effect the weight lost as much as a low fat day with the same calories

Re: Daily Calorie intake
Hey Kim... Great question..... The answer is dont worry about one day where you may consume more fat than others.. Just make sure that the fat you consume is balanced with mono & poly unsaturates and you try to keep your high sat. fat levels lower than the other two. So Salmon, Olive Oil, Avocados , Flax Oil, etc are high quality healthy fat selections.
The old saying you are what you eat is true...
If you are trying to lose weight and mostly fat focus on a 20% caloric deficit per day.
